New Orleans Voodoo inspired makeover shoot

We had a great day in the studio yesterday shooting with our makeup artist Rachael and her friend, Liam. We always love helping Rachael out with creative projects, and this time, her project is all about cultures from around the world. This particular makeup look was themed all around New Orleans, but not your typical association to New Orleans! Rachael wanted to focus on the voodoo side of the city rather than the carnival culture, and was inspired by American Horror Story’s take on the Louisiana City with their season 3 offering, Coven. Witchcraft, the occult and mysticism came to play with deep, dark eye looks, heavy contouring and moody lighting. Rachael added smudges of mascara and coloured shadows all around Liam’s eyes to add to the grungy feel and give him a real enchanting, charismatic look.

We knew that Liam would be the perfect model for this type of look, and the lace jabot and handmade gothic brooch really added to the vampiresque look when paired with Liam’s black suit. You can take a look at the final images below – thank you so much to Liam for spending the afternoon with us and working on this project, we had a fab time meeting you and photographing you and you made an amazing model!
